How to Transcribe a TikTok Video to Text

2026-07-05

Why transcribe a TikTok video?

Short-form video is great for watching, but terrible for skimming, searching, or repurposing. A transcript turns a 60-second clip into text you can quote, translate, index, or drop straight into a blog post.

Step 1: Copy the video link

Open the TikTok app or website, tap Share, and copy the link. It looks like https://www.tiktok.com/@user/video/1234567890.

Step 2: Paste it into Scriptery

Paste the link into the box on the homepage and click Get transcript. No account or software installation required — the free daily quota covers most one-off transcriptions.

Step 3: Export in your format

Once the transcript is ready, copy the plain text or export it as TXT, SRT, or VTT — the latter two work directly as subtitle files in most video editors.

Tips for best results

  • Public videos work directly from the link; private videos need to be downloaded and uploaded instead.
  • Videos with music-only audio (no speech) will produce a short or empty transcript — that's expected, not a bug.
  • For long videos, expect processing to take a bit longer than a 30-second clip.
