Clean Up Auto-Generated Captions
Auto-generated captions repeat every line as the text scrolls. Paste the file and get a clean SRT with each sentence appearing once. Runs entirely in your browser.

How to clean up auto-generated captions
- 1Download the auto-generated caption file from YouTube Studio, then paste it into the box on the left. SRT and VTT both work.
- 2Click Convert. Repeated and partially repeated cues are merged so each phrase appears once.
- 3Copy the result, or download it as a clean .srt file.
Why are auto-generated captions duplicated?
They are written for a scrolling display: each cue repeats the previous line and adds a few new words, so the text appears to roll up the screen. Read as a file, the same sentence shows up three or four times in a row.
Will it fix the wording too?
No — it only removes the repetition. Misheard words and missing punctuation come from the speech recognition itself. For a cleaner starting point, transcribe the video here instead: the transcript comes back punctuated and without the rolling duplicates.
